The Marilyn Jean is ready to sail again. After our winter maintenance period, we’re resuming operations on Friday, March 7th, 2026.
That means private fishing charters, party cruises, and all our other charter services are available starting March 7th. If you’ve been planning a corporate outing, family event, or private fishing trip, now’s the time to book.
Winter is when we handle maintenance, cleaning, inspections, and everything the boat needs to operate safely and reliably throughout the busy season. That work is complete. The Marilyn Jean is in excellent condition and ready for charter.
Private Charters Available Now
Our private charter services are available starting March 7th. Whether you’re planning a fishing trip, celebrating a milestone, or organizing a company event, we can customize the experience to fit your needs.
Private fishing charters give your group exclusive access to the boat with all equipment, bait, and instruction included. You decide when to sail, where to fish, and how long to stay out. Our crew handles everything so you and your guests can focus on fishing and enjoying the day.
Party cruises provide a unique venue for celebrations. Birthday parties, bachelor parties, corporate events, family reunions — we’ve hosted them all. The Marilyn Jean features recently installed air-conditioned main cabins, ample deck space, and room for groups up to 100 passengers.
We also offer catering services to make your event complete. From simple refreshments to full meal packages, we work with you to provide food and beverages that match your occasion and budget.
Burials at sea provide a dignified and meaningful service for families honoring loved ones. We handle these services with respect and care, offering a peaceful setting on the water.
Spring Fishing Season Begins
March 7th marks the beginning of spring fishing season around New York Harbor. The water’s warming up, fish migrations are starting, and productive fishing returns after winter.
Early spring brings striped bass as water temperatures rise. Spring is prime time for the striper migration, and consistency improves significantly as we move through March into April and May.
Blackfish season extends into early spring. If your group wants to target tog, March and early April provide opportunities before the season closes.
Cod fishing can also be productive depending on conditions. We adjust our charter destinations based on what’s biting and where fish are holding.
For private fishing charters, you’re not limited to a predetermined schedule or target species. We work with you to plan trips around what you want to catch and when you want to fish.
Why Book a Private Charter
Private charters offer advantages over public fishing trips. Your group gets the entire boat. You’re not sharing space with strangers or working around other people’s schedules.
Private charters allow flexibility. You choose departure times that work for your group. You decide how long to stay out. If fishing is great, we can extend the trip. If conditions change or your group wants to head back early, we adjust.
Private charters work well for groups with varying experience levels. Beginners get individual attention and instruction. Experienced anglers can fish at their own pace without waiting for others.
Corporate outings benefit from the unique environment a boat provides. Team building happens naturally when everyone’s working together, learning new skills, and sharing the experience of being on the water.
Family gatherings become memorable events. Grandparents, parents, and kids all fishing together creates moments you don’t get sitting around a restaurant table.
Private charters also give you control over who’s there. You’re not dealing with strangers who might be loud, intrusive, or disruptive. It’s just your group enjoying the day.
Book Early for Peak Dates
Spring and summer weekends fill up quickly. If you’re planning a private charter for a specific date — especially weekends, holidays, or popular fishing periods — book as soon as possible.
We’re taking reservations now for March, April, May, and throughout the 2026 season. The earlier you book, the more options you have for dates and times.
Group size matters when scheduling. Larger groups need more advance notice to ensure we can accommodate everyone comfortably and provide adequate equipment and crew.
For corporate events or occasions with firm dates, don’t wait. Secure your date now and we’ll work with you on details as the charter approaches.
Public Fishing Trips Resume Too
While private charters are our focus here, we’re also resuming public fishing trips starting March 7th. If you’re an individual angler or small group, daily fishing trips run throughout the season.
Our full schedule of public trips is available at MJ2Fishing.com. You can see departure times, target species, and book tickets online through our calendar.
Public trips are a good option if you want to fish without organizing a full charter. Show up, fish alongside other anglers, and enjoy a day on the water without the commitment of booking the entire boat.
But if you want the boat to yourself, the exclusive experience, and control over the itinerary, private charters provide that.
